THESE ARE THE ONES WHO LONG TO SEE YOUR FACE!
Dear Families:
Today is the Solemnity of all Saints. Our Church celebrates the memory of the countless holy men and women from different origins and nationalities, heroes and heroines of Christian faith and witnesses of Christian charity through their lives.
Saint Monica's son, Saint Augustine shares with us three simple reasons why we do celebrate their memory: first, for inspiration from their examples; second, for participation in their merits and lastly, for the intercession of our prayers.
First, the saints teach us to become real Christians and saints in the Kingdom of God in the making. The lives lived by the saints are not unattainable to us. Jesus calls them “blessed” or “happy” because they remain to be on the side of God.
Secondly, we are taught by our catechesis that our faith in the communion of saints is an ecclesiological reality that we do not journey all alone on this earth. We participate in the goal reached by the saints in heaven. We never lose hope therefore, because the glory of the saints is an assuring truth that someday we shall be like them, beholding the Holy Face of God.
Lastly, the saints pray for us. They are our intercessors. Saints pray for us because their position in front of lumen gloriae gives them an opportunity to include our condition in the valley of tears. In the book of the revelation, an angel offers our prayers and in this very symbolic incense burned as a sweet smelling oblation is being offered by the Church triumphant in front of the Blessed Trinity.
May we find the real essence of the celebration of the saints in heaven. May we start to move on this meaning and find meaning in it, we find authentic Christian life looking to be saints too.

Queridas familias:
Hoy celebramos la Solemnidad de Todos los Santos. La Iglesia conmemora a los innumerables hombres y mujeres santos, provenientes de diversos orígenes y nacionalidades; héroes y heroínas de la fe cristiana que, a través de sus vidas, fueron testigos de la caridad cristiana.
San Agustín, hijo de Santa Mónica, nos ofrece tres razones sencillas por las cuales celebramos su memoria: en primer lugar, para inspirarnos en sus ejemplos; en segundo lugar, para participar de sus méritos; y, finalmente, para contar con su intercesión en nuestras oraciones.
En primer lugar, los santos nos enseñan a convertirnos en verdaderos cristianos y santos dentro del Reino de Dios, que está en proceso de construcción. La vida que llevaron los santos no es algo inalcanzable para nosotros. Jesús los llama «bienaventurados» o «felices» porque permanecen del lado de Dios.
En segundo lugar, la catequesis nos enseña que nuestra fe en la «comunión de los santos» es una realidad eclesiológica que nos recuerda que no caminamos solos por esta tierra. Participamos de la meta que los santos ya han alcanzado en el cielo. Por ello, nunca perdemos la esperanza, pues la gloria de los santos es una verdad que nos da la certeza de que, algún día, seremos como ellos y contemplaremos el Santo Rostro de Dios.
Por último, los santos oran por nosotros; son nuestros intercesores. Al estar ante la *lumen gloriae* (la luz de la gloria), tienen la oportunidad de presentar nuestra situación en este «valle de lágrimas». En el libro del Apocalipsis, un ángel ofrece nuestras oraciones —simbolizadas como incienso que arde—, las cuales son presentadas por la Iglesia triunfante ante la Santísima Trinidad.
Que logremos descubrir la verdadera esencia de la celebración de los santos en el cielo. Que, al profundizar en este significado, encontremos el sentido que nos impulse a vivir una auténtica vida cristiana, aspirando también nosotros a ser santos.
